Abstract
Teaching geometric proofs in various ways is crucial to students’ comprehension of proofs and reasoning. This research study investigates both teachers’ comprehension of proofs and their instruction, as well as effective methods of teaching proof, logic and reasoning skills to increase student comprehension. By comparing various teaching techniques, corresponding performances and feedback from both teachers and students, this research aims to find the weaknesses of teachers and the lack of comprehension of students when it comes to teaching and learning proofs, respectively. It also addresses the importance of developing skills related to the writing of valid proofs and how those skills should be applied to real world situations and used in students’ everyday lives.
